The next Chapter meeting is set for Tuesday August 26, 2008 from 10:00am to noon. It will be held at the St. Paul Police Department Eastern District located at 722 Payne Avenue (corner of Payne & Minnehaha Ave.). We are excited to have past MN HTCIA board member and current Internet Crimes Against Children Trainer Rick Anderson present on Wellness for Children Exploitation Investigators.
Here is information about the topic and a brief description of the presentation:
There are few other crimes that are so abhorrent to the human psyche as sexual crimes against children. With the explosion of Internet crimes against children, investigators, forensic personnel, and prosecutors working these types of cases are under constant exposure to images of child sexual assault. In some cases, as the abuse is occurring. This type of exposure takes a toll. A need exists to provide support for those exposed to child abuse images found in the Internet.
This presentation will identify the cycle of what can happen to individuals after extended and constant exposure to images associated with Internet crimes against children. Warning signs and indicators of the impact to those working these types of cases will be identified. Practical suggestions of what individuals can do to minimize the impact of Internet crimes against children related investigations and prosecutions will be provided. There will also be some time left for open discussion as well as questions and answers. Support resources will be provided to
participants.
This presentation is open to all MN HTCIA members. If you know another investigator (MN HTCIA member or not) that would benefit from this presentation, please bring them!
